Bio: [STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS SPOILERS AHEAD - highlight this section to read at your own discretion] Born the son of Han Solo and Leia Organa, the young Ben Solo was gifted with a deep connection to both the light and dark sides of the Force - a mystical current in the Star Wars universe said to flow through all things. It was a gift that attracted the attention of a monstrous man named Snoke who then decided Ben Solo would serve as his apprentice, having had several previous apprentices that failed to satisfy his sinister goals. Over the years Snoke whispered to the boy through the Force itself from across the galaxy as he grew, corrupting his sanity and his ability to exist in peace beyond the strain of his powers, eventually swaying him to the dark side.

From there he turned on his family and brethren, and Snoke bestowed upon him the title Kylo Ren (Jedi Killer, and master of the Knights of Ren) joining the then fledgling ranks of Snoke's would-be empire: the First Order. With Snoke crowned its Supreme Leader, the First Order began militarizing in the hopes of overthrowing the galaxy's current government, the New Republic, enforcing its own cruel rules with punishment ranging from torture to swift, unforgiving death. With both the Force on its side, and an almost indoctrinated level of loyalty from the men and women within its ranks, the First Order quickly became a potent threat that even the New Republic-- a bastion of peace and civility-- could not effectively neutralize.

On a less galactic level, Kylo Ren is not nearly as committed as his service would imply: he believes the First Order is necessary to bring a diseased, withered galaxy to heel, and that what he does is following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Darth Vader (the once Anakin Skywalker), but he's wounded and miserable in the wake of the atrocities he's committed, and often times states-- alone, in silence-- that he feels the light calling to him again, tempting him to weakness and compassion. Coupled with his fear of Snoke's lofty expectations, the legacy of his bloodline and the vastness of the task he's been charged with, that calling snowballs into an overwhelming fear of mediocrity and ineptitude.

It's a shaking finger over a trigger that urges him to action without thought, more often than not - rage and hatred guiding his actions rather than any amount of reason or want.

Those dealing with him via symbiotic connections will be more prone to: anger, frustration, fear, doubt, instinctive reaction, inner torment and unrest, loneliness, crying, tantrums, paranoia-- particularly in regards to people they love or consider close-- and feelings of inadequacy. Please see the symbiote section for more information on the Force.

Without his mask there is currently a massive, gruesome scar running across the span of his face from his mid-forehead to the base of his jaw on the right side.

BROOD PERMISSIONS
In a near constant state of distress, Kylo Ren oscillates wildly between buckling fear and a borderline compulsive need to lash out. Often it feels as if the weight of the universe bears down as a constant pressure across his shoulders, and with the Force in play that's very nearly true.

Any non-Force user connected to Kylo Ren's mind will be hit with unpleasant feedback that ranges from miniscule sensory echoes (noises in other rooms-- or other places entirely--tastes, smells, visual glimpses, thoughts and fully charged emotion that have nothing to do with current settings or the people in them, like being hooked up to split systems and receiving varied data from both). Couple that with a barely controlled symbiotic reach and being near Ren at any point in time is beyond uncomfortable, even for someone trained in mental restraint or the Force itself.

Beyond that, anything else is fair game: memories, his true name, his current emotional state and the drowning conflict that comes with it. Ren will likely attempt to suppress everything, but success is only ever as viable during the first month or so as you want it to be.

The only thing different from Kylo Ren's canon mentality and his in the Nest is that Supreme Leader Snoke no longer has a mental vice grip on Kylo Ren's thoughts. It manifests as both a strange relief, and an entirely foreign emptiness, given that the man has been whispering to Kylo Ren since birth.

NEST PERMISSIONS
Currently same as above, though the unpleasant feedback is nearly doubled from the strain of making a connection in the first place. Finer details like Kylo Ren's real name, memories of his family or what they meant to him would likely be more difficult to reach without at least being met halfway.
